The purpose of “The talk” is to discuss the benefits of teaching sex education in a developmentally appropriate manner, introducing some of the salient components of a comprehensive sexual education curriculum for grades k-8 including information on health, sex, safety, and awareness.
Undine Guthrie is a Licensed and certified New York City School Counselor and Health Educator with over 15 years of experience teaching, tutoring, and counseling. She is a Health Certified Health Coach from Integrative Nutrition. She currently supervises, teaches and trains future teachers and counselors at Hunter College in the areas of health education skills and awareness of child/adolescent health, safety and wellness, and social and emotional intelligence. She has worked in several maternity and infant care clinics throughout the city and well as school systems with thousands of children, spanning 50 cultural backgrounds, encompassing a variety of languages, religions, academic and emotional levels.
